James “David” Shaughnessy passed away peacefully at home on 04/01/2021 after a brief, but brave battle with cancer. David was preceded in death by his wife Helene, as well as his son, Keith. They are now together in eternal peace. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a host of friends and colleagues he has worked with over the years.
David served as a dedicated firefighter for 32 years at the FDNY before retiring. He was with Engine 76, Ladder 22 in Manhattan his entire career. He was also an Air Force veteran.
He was an accomplished skier back in the day and an avid fisherman – it was his favorite hobby. He always looked forward to his fishing trips to Florida, as well as summers in Montauk. In addition, he had a passion for toy trains and collected many.
David was affectionately known as “Dave the Rave” to those who knew him well. He will be missed dearly.
