As co-director of The Cooperstown Symposium on Baseball and American Culture, it was my privilege to build memories with Porky. He was an unforgettable character and had character. With robust gusto, he delivered several original poems in the the Bullpen Theater at the National Baseball Hall of Fame. One year Porky brought his nephew Michael to the conference, and it was evident that time was special to them both. As long as we have memory, we will never forget Porky. His inimitable words voiced baseball, poetry, and life.

What can I say about someone who I've known since I'm 10. The countless baseball and hockey games are in the past but not forgotten as well as all the nerf basketball games we played in your parents apartment. We went to grammar and high school together and worked together at the deli and transit. So glad we had lunch a few weeks ago for your birthday. not knowing it would be our last time together. Life throws you curves and I'm a fastball hitter so this is hard for me to handle. Sorry for the bad baseball pun but I thought you would appreciate it.. As you always posted for the famous who passed, Rest Easy, and I say that to you my friend, I'll see you on the other side!....
